Beautiful Bridal Suite

Concord Country Club, West ChesterMary Jo’s task at the Concord Country Club was to create a space that provided a beautiful bridal suite and maintain a lounge for the golfers and bridge ladies. She met with the club committee and they agreed on a new, softer color palette in grays, lavenders and white.

Project Overview:

This country club’s ladies Locker Room lounge was seldom used except by the weekly bridge ladies. The furnishings were worn and outdated. This space also doubles as the bridal suite during weddings. The country club’s new management wanted to appeal to the growing wedding industry but still appeal to the members playing bridge or lounging.

Beautiful Bridal Suite

Design challenges

The main window looked out on the club’s parking lot and had an emergency exit so there was no privacy. The wall-to-wall carpet was fairly new but nobody wanted to keep it. The old window treatments were really outdated with their aluminum blinds and lambrequins. The games tables were small with bulky, uncomfortable chairs. The TV just hung on the wall and there was no storage for supplies. In addition, the bride and her entourage had to share the locker room mirrors with the lady golfers! My job was to create a space that provided a beautiful bridal suite as well as maintain a lounge for the golfers and bridge ladies.

Solutions

I met with the club committee and we agreed on a new, softer color palette in grays, lavenders and white.

The sofa, upholstered in a beautiful Crypton performance fabric, was coordinated with new side chairs, and a custom upholstered bench. This provides a nice conversation area and members can pull in the gray linen chairs from the games tables if more seating is needed. I added a buffet/sideboard for serving food and drinks which also anchors the TV. We selected a new commercial carpeting in gray and charcoal and accented the furnishings with a colorful 8 x 10 rug.

White plantation shutters were installed for privacy with white linen drapes to cover the emergency door, and to soften each side of the shutters.

This project was a big success and Mary Jo has now worked on several spaces.
