They Have Their Dream Kitchen

The existing kitchen was plain and out-of-date. The island was very small and not conducive to food prep, entertaining, or sitting. This was especially important because the clients’ extended family is large and takes turns hosting family gatherings. The lighting was minimal and inappropriately sized for all areas of the space. Mary Jo worked with the client and the general contractor to give the client their dream kitchen.

Location: Chester County

Designer Credits: Mary Jo Long

Project Overview:

This bright and airy kitchen offers plenty of seating for entertaining. Professionally repainted white cabinets and a large island in a distressed black finish pair beautifully with opus white quartzite countertops. Soft gray subway tile backsplash is accented with a punch of galvanized tin in a unique, stamped ceramic backsplash up the hood.

In the adjacent dining area, a modern farmhouse-style table and chairs are finished with custom linen drapery panels while coordinating custom valances add a soft touch to the kitchen. A fun anvil-style console and large barn print bring in the farmhouse aesthetic. This combination of raw textures, natural light, and a breezy color palette welcome users to the heart of the home.
